Hologram theory

While perusing boingboing today, I followed a link to a site called wikidumper, which tracks some of the best rejected content from Wikipedia in case it should eventually be removed. The first item that stopped my reading was this post title Hologram theory. According to hologram theory, there were no planes on 9/11. This is really one of the more worthwhile posts I’ve ever put up. You really should read on…

The “Hologram Theory,” as it relates to 9/11, proposes that no commercial airliners hit the World Trade Center on Sept 11 2001. Proponents of the theory contend that rather than full sized airliners, the World Trade Center was hit by “Cruise” type Missiles which appeared to the naked eye to be airliners through the use of sophisticated hologram technology.

Now I do love me some good conspiracy theory whenever I can find some, provided I sample in small quantities. But this one just baffles me. Cruise missiles disguised via sophisticated holograms to look like airplanes? Especially good is this quote from the Wikipedia article:

One eyewitness described the ‘airplane’ he saw: “It just disappeared. It disappeared like a, like a, bad special effect. Disappeared right into the building.”

I have to admit, I believe this. I suspect had I seen the disguised cruise missiles strike the World Trade Center, I too would see them just disappear right into the building. Why, it’s almost as if the imaginary planes were implanted in the buildings or consumed completely when they exploded into massive balls of fire, fueled by thousands upon thousands of highly volatile liquid fuel. Almost.
